Nourah in Grandma Lillie and Me, has grandparents in America and Saudi Arabia. Nourah shared her experiences with her grandma in America with deep cultural heritage from her mother's family. The copy of this book is dedicated in memory of Nourah's Grandma Lillie with flowers from the Crepe Myrtle trees.
My Great Grandma Lillie is Gone
My Great Grandma Lillie is Gone is a children’s book concerning the passing of Syrena’s Great Grandma Lillie and the social/emotional effect it had on the four years old child. The situation left Syrena to ponder where her Great Grandma Lillie Had Gone. The author illustrates expressively the effects of death on the passing away of a loved one. The book is designed to handle emotional, traumatic experiences that the young children encounter. The setting provides strategies that assisted the child in handling emotional stresses associated with the tragedy of lost. This is a story written by a mother whose children are in Saudi Arabia. Norah the daughter tells the story about the conditions, history and plight of she and her brother, Ali. “When Will My Mommy Come?” is filled of rich history, customs and traditions of Arabia. It tells of their lifestyle, religious practices, educational training, traveling experiences in America and Arabia with their maternal and fraternal families. Norah takes you on an adventure as she and Ali struggle to survive without their mother being in Arabia. The reader feels what it is like to grow up without being able to see your mother. It tells of the restrictions (limits) in the Arabian governments that hinder the mother from visiting the country and seeing her children.

The series of books are the experiences of Arabian children with their American grandparents. Grandpa Vinnie & Me details cross-cultural experiences with Ali’s Jamaican Grandpa Vinnie.
